Amy L. Houck, Esq., partner at Cooper Levenson, will discuss the opportunities and challenges associated with schools letting students bring their own technology devices in a special session at the New Jersey School Boards Association (NJSBA) Summer Leadership Conference on Legal Issues. The conference will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Crowne Plaza Princeton, 900 Scudders Mill Road, Plainsboro Township, N.J. Houck’s presentation is from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Madison Room.
Topics to be covered in Houck’s presentation, “Bring Your Own Device: Opportunities and Challenges,” include legal concerns and practical considerations of implementing a BYOB program, from equity issues to cyber bullying.
Amy L. Houck is a partner in the firm’s Education Law Practice Group, serving school boards and school officials on every aspect of Education Law. She regularly lectures on a variety of school related issues including staff rights and responsibilities, student discipline, harassment, intimidation and bullying, special education matters and board ethics. Amy is also an Adjunct Professor for the Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership Graduate Program of the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey where she teaches School Law. She is a faculty member for the Southern Regional Institute and Educational Technology Training Center at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey where she teaches the school law leadership program and harassment, intimidation and bullying seminars.
The NJSBA Summer Leadership conference runs from 8:45 a.m. through 2:45 p.m. It includes a general session on educator evaluations, and breakout sessions on topics ranging from social media to students rights and discipline, nepotism, and superintendent contracts.
