Atlantic City, N.J. April 27, 2015 -Steven D. Scherzer, partner at Cooper Levenson, was presented with the Harry Cassman Award during the annual meeting of the Jewish Federation of Atlantic and Cape May Counties on April 23, 2015 at the Linwood Golf & Country Club. The Harry Cassman Award was established in 1960, in recognition of Cassman’s outstanding and selfless service to the Jewish Federation and the Jewish community he loved so dearly. A prominent attorney in the Atlantic City area, Cassman founded what today is the Jewish Federation of Atlantic & Cape May Counties. Its unofficial leader for more than a decade, he served as the first official president following the Jewish Federation’s incorporation in 1936. The Harry Cassman award is given in his honor each year to an individual who demonstrates the level of commitment, leadership, service and vision that Cassman shared so generously.

Scherzer follows in Cassman’s footsteps with work in the Jewish community that includes serving as Chairman of the Jewish Community Relations Council from 1996-1998, and as President of Congregation Beth Judah from June of 1999 through June of 2001.

Professionally, he concentrates his practice in Commercial Litigation (including real estate law, partnership and corporate law), Probate Law (contested probate actions, will contests, trustees and estates) and Condominium Law (handling, among other issues, property, vendor and resident disputes).
