Trenton car accident results in death of crossing guard

The actions of drivers in New Jersey and elsewhere may significantly affect those around them. Inattention, distractions and speeding, among other unsafe behaviors, may result in motor vehicle collisions. Due to such crashes, drivers, their passengers and other bystanders may suffer serious injuries or death.

A 42-year-old man who was driving on a suspended license recently caused a fatal accident in Trenton. According to reports, the man’s truck struck the rear of a vehicle driven by a woman who was making a left-hand turn at an intersection. The woman claims that she stepped on her gas when she noticed the man’s vehicle.

After hitting the woman’s vehicle, the truck reportedly continued on and hit a crossing guard, killing him. Witnesses reported that the 56-year-old crossing guard was thrown approximately 200 feet as a result of the impact. The woman who was driving the other vehicle alleged that the man was speeding prior to the collision. It remains unknown to the public, however, whether any other factors might have contributed to the crash. The driver of the truck is now facing charges for causing a death while driving on a suspended license.

When people are seriously injured or killed in auto accidents, the effects may be devastating for them and their families. They may have to deal with lost income, undue medical expenses and funerary costs, among other damages. Therefore, people who have experienced such situations may benefit from seeking legal guidance. An attorney may help them to understand their rights and explain their options for pursuing financial justice.
