Samantha Edgell, Esq. named to Gilda’s Club South Jersey Board of Trustees

Samantha Edgell, an attorney in the Atlantic City office of Cooper Levenson, Attorneys at Law, has been named to the Cancer Support Community New Jersey at Gilda’s Club Board of Trustees, a volunteer board that works “to ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action and sustained by community.”

Founded in memory of comedienne Gilda Radner, Gilda’s Club opened its signature red door in the fall of 2002. The Cancer Support Community New Jersey (CSCNJ) at Gilda’s Club offers a variety of cancer support groups, healthy lifestyle workshops, educational lectures and social activities for individuals living with cancer, their families and friends.

“I look forward to serving as a member of the Gilda’s Club Board of Trustees, a volunteer group that is committed to the support of cancer patients and their families throughout New Jersey.” said Edgell.

With more than 16,000 individuals throughout South Jersey diagnosed with cancer each year, CSCNJ at Gilda’s Club is one of the only cancer support community in New Jersey offering a free, comprehensive program of psychosocial support including educational lectures, workshops, social activities, and support groups to men and women impacted by cancer.

Research shows that people who are impacted by cancer and receive psychosocial support have a 56% increase in quality of life and survival rates. Participation in a comprehensive program of support reduces depression, anxiety, feelings of isolation and reduces the chance of recurrence by nearly 50%.
