Cooper Levenson’s Education Attorneys to speak at the New Jersey School Board Association’s (NJSBA) Workshop Oct. 24-26

Cooper Levenson attorneys William S. Donio, Amy Houck Elco, Kasi Gifford, and Rachel Taylor will speak at the 2022 New Jersey School Board Association’ Workshop and Exposition, scheduled from Mon. Oct. 24 – Wed. Oct. 26 at the Atlantic City Convention Center.

William S. Donio and Amy Houck Elco will speak on Tuesday Oct. 24 at 11:00 a.m. in Room 419 of the Atlantic City Convention Center. The session’s topic is “The Real Board Meetings of New Jersey.” This session will discuss laws, rules, regulations, and best practices to make sure your meetings can be effective, inclusive, and transparent.  They will also cover how, as Board meetings become increasingly chaotic, confrontational, and broadcast in real time, Boards ensure orderly and productive meetings while properly protecting the First amendment rights of the public to comment and seek the redress of grievances.

Kasi M. Gifford and Rachel Taylor will speak at 1:30 p.m. on Tues. Wed., Oct. 24 in the Pacific Avenue Learning Lab on the exhibit floor. This session is entitled “To Post or Not to Post: That is the Question.” This session will address good Board member social media presence and “netiquette.” As social media continues to monopolize, and some say marginalize our lives, how do Board members ensure they can effectively communicate without compromising the Board or violating their ethical obligations.
