Cooper Levenson Mourns the Loss of Partner Michael Jacobson

Michael Jacobson, a partner at Cooper Levenson, Attorneys at Law since 1987, passed away on October 16, 2020.

“Besides being a masterful commercial practitioner, Mike served as a valued member of the Firm’s Executive Committee for many years. For those who had the privilege of working with Mike or just being the beneficiary of his engaging personality, the Firm has lost one of its cornerstones,” said Lloyd D. Levenson, Chief Executive Officer.

Mike’s legal practice of more than three decades focused on Real Estate, Banking and Foreclosure Law and related issues, such as tax appeals, lease/contract work, purchase/sale, and zoning and planning. His client list included banks, private companies, partnerships, and corporations. In addition to handling loan documentation and general transactional work for banks, he completed thousands of foreclosure matters, including multi-million dollar commercial mortgages. Mike successfully represented purchasers of casino hotel complexes in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Mike was a member of numerous legal, professional, and community service organizations over the years. He served on the New Jersey Court’s subcommittee for five years to standardize the foreclosure practice within the State of New Jersey. He was a  member of the Bank Lawyers Council of the New Jersey Bankers Association, the New Jersey State Bar Association, the State of Texas Bar Association, and the Atlantic County Bar Association. He served on both the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey Board of Trustees (prior Chair of the Trustee Board for two terms) from 1985 until his passing and The Richard Stockton College Foundation Board.

A graduate of Temple University and Baylor University, Michael was admitted to the bar in Texas and New Jersey.

Mike’s obituary can be found here. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Stockton University Foundation in Michael Jacobson’s name for the scholarship fund in his honor. Donations can be made via Stockton’s website, or mail donations to Stockton University Foundation 101 Vera King Ferris Drive Galloway, NJ 08205. Condolences may be offered at www.jsgfunerals.com
