Monroe Township, N.J. – Cooper Levenson is proud to announce that, on June 12 at the New Jersey School Boards Association’s annual Spring School Law Forum, three of the firm’s attorneys were installed to serve the Southern District of the New Jersey Association of School Attorneys. William S. Donio was elected Vice President of the Southern District. Amy Houck Elco and Kelli A. Prinz were installed as Members of the Board of Trustees.
William S. Donio, a Hammonton, N.J. resident, is chairman of the firm’s education law practice group. A graduate of Columbia University School of Law, Donio and the attorneys in his practice group have extensive experience in litigating special education matters, discrimination claims, sexual harassment claims, disability discrimination claims, construction matters, public bidding matters, family medical leave act violations, tort claims, and open public records claims. Donio was selected in 2017 and 2018 for inclusion on the New Jersey Super Lawyer list in the area of school law. He is rated Distinguished by Martindale Hubbell in the area of education law, and was honored with two “40 Under 40” awards, one from the New Jersey Law Journal and one from Atlantic City Weekly. Donio is a graduate of Rutgers College – Rutgers the State University (B.A. 1991) with High Honors in History, a Presidential Scholarship recipient, a Henry Rutgers Scholar, and a graduate of the General Honors Program. He is also a graduate of Columbia University School of Law, where he was Production Editor of the Columbia Business Law Review,
Amy Houck Elco, a Mullica Township resident and a partner in the firm’s education law group, has been named to the New Jersey Super Lawyer’s list of Rising Stars in the area of school law. A frequent lecturer, Houck Elco presents on a variety of school-related issues, including staff rights and responsibilities, student discipline, harassment, intimidation and bullying, special education matters and board ethics. Houck Elco was chosen as a ‘Best of New Jersey School Board Workshop 2014’ speaker for her presentation “Can They Say That?: Board Member, Employee and Public Comment Under the Open Public Meetings Act.” She is a graduate of Stockton University with a B.A. in Communications, and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law with a J.D. and a Certificate in Health Law.
Prinz, an Upper Township, N.J. resident, is a member of the firm’s education law practice group and focuses on matters of all types for school boards and administrators, employment and labor issues, contractual matters, student discipline, public records and privacy, Board policy drafting and compliance, Board property issues and transfers, alleged incidents of harassment, intimidation and bullying (HIB), the defense of claims of violations of the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination, and as injury and negligence claims brought against Boards of Education. Prinz graduated Magna Cum Laude and with Program Distinction in Philosophy from the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey (B.A. 2003), and from Rutgers University School of Law, Camden, New Jersey (J.D. 2009).
